Guangdong is located at the South China adjacent to Hong Kong. Its space is 179.800 km2. The total population of the city is 105 million. The most important city of this province is Guangzhou wherein the premises of the Consulate General of State of Qatar is located. It is well known to Arab traders in general, and it is considered the metropolis of the province. Some other important cities in the province are Dongguan, Foshan, Shenzen and Nansha.. etc.

Guangzhou –formerly known as Canton- is the capital and the most populated city in Guangdong in South China. It is located at the Pearl River around 120 km in the north-northern west of Hong Kong and 145 km in the north of Macau. Its history is dating back to more than 2200 years. It was also a major point on marine Silk Road, and it is still serving as a main port for transport and communications at the present time.

Guangzhou now is the third largest populated city in the mainland China after Beijing and Shanghai. The population of the administrative region was estimated in 2015 around 13.501.100 people. It is considered a part of the largest urban agglomeration population on the earth. Some estimations indicate that population of the built area on the Pearl River Delta has reached 44 million people in the last few years without the private administrative region of Hong Kong. There was a rapid growth in the number of foreign and migrant residents from Southwest Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa which led to calling it “Capital of the Third World”. The migrants from other provinces of China to Guangzhou represented 40% of the total population of the city in 2008. Guangzhou is considered one of the most important commercial and touristic destinations in China. Some people call it “The Wholesale city”, as there are almost all Chinese goods. The city is featured with organized infrastructure in an impressive way. It is also famous for annual Canton Fair; the most ancient and largest commercial fair in China and the most prominent event in the city.

There are also many significant touristic landmarks in the city in addition to national parks and unique services hotels. The most important touristic destination in the city include the following:

  • Temple of the Six Banyan Trees: built in 537 AD, one of the most ancient Buddhist temples in China.
  • Kwang Chu Museum: located at a guard tower (from 14th century) in Yui Hsiu park.
  • Hwai Ching Mosque: one of the most ancient mosques in China, it was built at the time of Tang dynasty (618-907AD).
  • Abi Waqas Mosque: it is an ancient mosque and, according to the Chinese reports, was built in 629 AD. It is built by the solemn companion of Prophet Mohamed (Sahabi)- Abu Wakas who came from the Arabian Peninsula. There is a tomb beside the mosque and it is said that he is buried therein. Some Chinese reports consider him the uncle of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), but this is not true as there are no historical reports that refer to the arrival of Sahaba to China at the time of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), but this mosque is considered one of the first Islamic landmarks in China.
  • In addition to many parks which are well-classified at the level of Asia and the world like: Lotus Top Park, Guangzhou Zoo, Dashi Park, Park of Biyun Mountain Gate…etc.

Shenzen city is located at the Pearl River Delta on the northern borders of the private administrative region of Hong Kong, and 100 km south eastern of Guangzhou (the capital of the province). It is around 1.991.64 km2 including urban and rural areas. Shenzen is considered one of the main cities in Guangdong province in the South China; moreover, it is considered the first private economic region in China in respect of time-period of its demarcation. In accordance with the static governmental reports, population of the city and its districts has reached more than 18 million people by 2015. It is noteworthy that population of the city in 1979 was around 10000 people only. This rapid growth in papulation is due to the investment attraction to the city after the economic openness, which has contributed to the growth of job opportunities and investment in its different volumes. Shenzen is one of the most growing cities in the world from 1990 until now. The city is distinguished with a strategic position in the geographic space between Hong Kong Island and Guangzhou (the capital of the province). It is the best place to set a modern industry, as the technological industry, texture, upholstery, medicaments and building materials are flourished. It also provides Hong Kong with its needs of water supply and foodstuffs. Its foundation is due to the late communist leader (Deng Xiaoping) who is the first one to suggest the foundation of Shenzen. Mr. Deng Xiaoping is considered the chief engineering officer of building the private economic area of Shenzen. His plan was to build a modern economic city in case of failure of negotiation with Britain, in order to be an alternative for Hong Kong. The city is given significant importance at the present time by the government in order to continue in progress and prosperity.
